A class

From the first bow to the last

Every class has the same shape, at every age.

  1. Step 1: Bow in

The line forms by belt, and everyone bows together before the first word.

  2. Step 2: Warm up

Stretching and slow breathing, led from the front by an instructor.

  3. Step 3: Basics

Stances, blocks, punches and kicks, repeated until they are steady.

  4. Step 4: Forms

A form is a set of steps done alone, in order, and the heart of the class.

  5. Step 5: Partner work

Slow drills with set steps, then a little faster as the weeks go on.

  6. Step 6: Bow out

The five dojo rules are said together, and the line bows to close.
