How tuition works

Our figures are on the enrollment page, and we go over them with you at your first visit. Here is how each part works.

  • What sets tuition

Tuition depends on the class group (children, teens, adults or family), on how many classes a week a student attends, and on whether kobudo is added to karate.

    • Class group

    • Classes a week

    • Karate only, or karate and kobudo

  • Registration

A joining fee covers your uniform, your first belt and your file. It is due when you join, and the front desk explains it before you decide.

  • Holding a place

A place in a class is held once you finish enrolling. A full class keeps a waitlist, and when a place opens we call families in the order they joined. Children's and teen classes hold up to 12 students, adult and kobudo classes up to 16, and the family class up to 10.

  • Billing

Tuition is billed monthly, at the start of the month, by autopay from the account you set up on our enrollment page. You can see every bill there.

  • Siblings

A second family member is handled differently from a first. The front desk explains what a family plan covers when you join.

  • Withdrawing

The first term is three months, and after that it runs month to month. To end it, tell us in writing. We ask for thirty days' notice, and the month in progress is the last one billed. Ask us how to pause for a posting, a deployment or a long trip.

  • Missed classes and make-ups

If you miss a class, join another of the same level that week or the next. A pause for illness or travel is a note to the front desk.

  • Uniform, belt tests and other costs

A few things sit outside tuition: belt tests, kobudo equipment such as a staff, and the occasional seminar. The front desk explains each one and what it is for before you decide.
